New, novel method for gold-plating SPR chips

Hi,

We are conducting a research on behalf of our customer on new method for gold-plating SPR chips.

In this new technology, the gold-plating is done in such a way, that the adhesion between the glass-substrate and gold is immensely stronger than in competing technologies and products. This has several benefits.

The technology's main benefits are:
- excellent adhesion of the gold coating (scratch resistant)
- good chemical resistance (eg against piranha and ammonia/peroxide treatment)
- possibility to regenerate the gold surface (remove the organic coating)
- attractive cost

What is the general opinion - would it be interesting to use re-usable, low cost gold-plated SPR chips - or to continue using the existing technologies?

Best regards,

It looks nice, but we have to stick to the format of the sensor chip of the machine. As a user of the technology we are not making chips of our own. So the technology is limeted for us but could be interresting for people in material sciences.
